Pollyanna Royal Doulton Figurine HN2965 1981
The next Royal Doulton from our collection is this Pollyanna figurine H.N. 2965 from 1981. It features the classic Pollyanna character from the 1913 novel by Eleanor Porter. The title character is named Pollyanna Whittier, a young orphan who goes to live in Beldingsville, Vermont, with her wealthy but stern Aunt Polly. Pollyanna's philosophy of life centers on what she calls "The Glad Game", an optimistic attitude she learned from her father. The game consists of finding something to be glad about in every situation. It originated in an incident one Christmas when Pollyanna, who was hoping for a doll in the missionary barrel, found only a pair of crutches inside. Making the game up on the spot, Pollyanna's father taught her to look at the good side of things—in this case, to be glad about the crutches because "we didn't need to use them!"
This figurine measures an impressive 7" tall. As you can see in the pictures it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs! There is a rattle when you pick her up, but this in no way effects her beauty! Identified on the bottom as Pollyanna Royal Doulton HN2965 from 1981. It would make a great gift or addition to a Royal Doulton collection!
